By mounting this board near the machine frame, the system can consolidate local field wiring while still exchanging process data over the manufacturer’s proprietary BT-BUS or an INTERBUS-S remote bus. This arrangement helps keep signal paths short and supports organized connections between field devices and the main control system.

This board supports 40 digital input channels and 24 transistor outputs, allowing it to collect status signals and switch solenoids or indicator lamps from a single card. Communication with the supervisory drive system occurs over the 500 Kbaud remote bus, which supports the update timing required by coordinated machine sequences. The BT-BUS segment attached to the module can extend to 50 m and can connect as many as four subordinate nodes without repeaters. A cyclic data image of 6 Bytes is reserved for this board, so the controller can read and write the process bits in one scan. Up to 8 switch element slots accept auxiliary relays or counter modules, and three acknowledge circuits verify the required sequence before operation resumes. The printed circuit assembly measures 318 mm wide, 169 mm high, and 86 mm deep, which allows it to fit a standard rack rail or swing-out door without additional spacers.
