The RC36-20/30 is a programmable controller manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the BODAS Controllers series. Acting as the supervisory node inside hydraulic or electromechanical drive systems, it acquires sensor data, runs application code, and issues time-critical commands to pumps, valves, and motors. A sealed die-cast aluminum housing shields the electronics so the unit can be installed directly on machinery without a separate cabinet. This arrangement shortens cable runs and helps the controller operate close to the sensors and actuators it manages.
The controller is built around a TC1796 microcontroller that operates at 150 MHz, which supports arithmetic, logic, and communication tasks. Program code, diagnostic routines, and bootloaders reside in 6 MB of Flash EPROM, while calculated variables are handled by 1 MB of RAM to keep execution deterministic. Long-term calibration data is stored in 32 kB of EEPROM, which helps retain configured values when supply power is removed. Field devices connect through 32 digital voltage inputs and 10 frequency inputs, giving direct access to switches, encoders, and flow sensors. This mix allows one controller to read simple on and off states alongside pulse-based process feedback in the same application. Networked nodes are linked through 4 CAN interfaces that support both standard and extended identifiers for decentralized control and diagnostics.
Actuation resources include 56 high-side or low-side output stages capable of driving solenoids, lamps, or proportional valves, plus a single analog current output for precision regulation. Altogether the module offers 67 input channels, so analog, digital, and frequency feedback can be processed at the same time. The enclosure has an IP65 rating that helps block dust and water jets, while an external 50 A fuse limits fault energy on the supply line. Integrated sensor supplies deliver 1000 mA at 10 V and 500 mA at 5 V, which reduces the need for separate auxiliary converters in the machine. The available supply rails can power connected transducers directly, which simplifies wiring where multiple sensors share the same controller.
