For most AC machines and motors, the blocking brake provides a holding mechanism to fix the rotor position for a period of time. Most, if not all, holding brakes incorporated in servo motors function as a hold-only brake. While the motor itself requires a three-phase voltage supply to function properly, the incorporated blocking brake requires a DC connection voltage with a nominal value of 24 V. Rexroth’s 2AD servo motors may come with an electrically clamped brake, an electrically released brake, or a heavy-duty brake. The 2AD134B-B35OA1-FS26-A2N1, in particular, employs an 80 Nm electrically released holding brake.

Aside from its powerful holding brake, the 2AD134B-B35OA1-FS26-A2N1 employs an exquisite cooling system that guides the air to flow axially from the motor’s rear side to the shaft side.
