The 2AD motors by Rexroth may optionally have a holding brake. The 2AD104B-B35OA1-CS27-D2N1 is a product model from Rexroth’s 2AD motor series that features an electrically released holding brake. The holding brake for this motor model serves mainly as a holding-only brake. However, the holding brake also functions as a sudden-stop brake to stop the rotor if the stopping energy does not exceed the maximum braking energy of 20,000 J. The difference between the two is that holding-only brakes ensure that the load stays in place when the motor is off or in a locked-rotor state. On the other hand, stop-and-hold brakes allow stopping and holding functions during motor operation. 

The 2AD104B-B35OA1-CS27-D2N1's holding brake triggers at a voltage of 24 V. At the receipt of a control signal, the actuator releases the holding brake after a release delay of 100 milliseconds. This release delay is measured from the time the control signal is received to the time the rotor becomes stationary. The maximum holding torque that the brake can stop is 24 Nm. After successfully operating the brakes, the braking voltage is turned off to clamp the brake back to its default state.
