The KM2614 is a relay output module produced by Beckhoff for integration into the KM Bus Terminals series. Within an EtherCAT or Lightbus system, the terminal provides electrically isolated switching so a PLC can energize or deenergize branch circuits without requiring separate banks of external relays. Four electromechanical relays in one compact housing simplify the control of contactors, solenoid valves, signaling lamps, and other electrical loads used in industrial machines or building systems.
The module contains four changeover contacts, allowing each output to switch between normally open and normally closed paths. Each circuit can carry up to 16 A continuously, making the outputs suitable for loads that require more current than standard transistor terminals can provide. The contacts support a maximum switching voltage of 400 VAC and a maximum starting current of 30 A for loads with a brief inrush surge. Electrical durability is rated at 1 × 10⁶ cycles, representing one million make-and-break operations under the applicable electrical load conditions. During operation, the module draws only 15 mA from the internal K-bus, which limits demand on the local power rail. A minimum load of 10 V at 5 mA helps maintain reliable contact performance when the module switches low-energy devices. For three-phase motors, the AC-3 rating permits direct control of loads up to 550 W, while a front slide lever allows manual relay operation during setup or service.
The switching paths are rated for 250 VAC or 30 VDC during normal use. Mechanical endurance reaches 5 × 10⁶ cycles when the contacts operate without an electrical load, exceeding the expected endurance under powered switching conditions. Each relay coil uses a 24 VDC auxiliary supply and draws 50 mA while energized, which helps limit heat buildup when the terminals are densely installed in a control cabinet. Field conductors connect through a screw-clamp terminal block with an IP20 protection rating, which guards against accidental finger contact while allowing neighboring terminals to be mounted closely together. In the process image, the device provides four Boolean outputs so the controller can address each relay through an individual logic bit.
