Product Description:
The KM2004-0004 is an output bus terminal from Beckhoff in the KM Bus Terminals series. It provides thirty-two discrete channels and links field actuators to a controller through the K-Bus backplane. In industrial automation, it distributes 24 V DC switching signals to lamps, solenoids, or inductive loads while allowing high channel density on standard DIN-rail hardware.
Its electrical design uses a nominal supply of 24 V DC, so the terminal can be powered directly from common PLC buses. Each output is rated for 0.5 A of continuous current, providing enough drive for indicator lamps or small solenoid valves without external relays. The channels are arranged as 32 (4 x 8), and this grouping simplifies field wiring and fault isolation. When an inductive load is switched off, suppression circuitry keeps the breaking energy below 150 mJ per channel, protecting the transistor stages and minimizing electromagnetic interference. The housing has an IP20 protection class, so it is finger-safe but must be mounted inside a cabinet. The terminal accepts ohmic, inductive, and lamp loads, and individual signal LEDs show the state of every channel.
Four plug-in connectors handle field wiring, and their nominal collective current is 2 A, which helps limit heat buildup. Each connector presents eight channels in a three-wire format with shared supply and ground, and all 30 terminal points are available through a push-in strip for quick installation. The unit mounts on a 35 mm DIN rail, so existing EN 60715 profiles can be reused without extra brackets. With overall dimensions of 75 x 100 x 55 mm, the module occupies little panel depth and leaves room for ventilation or adjacent I/O slices. The K-Bus backplane supplies electronics power and transfers a 32-bit process image to the controller, keeping software mapping aligned with the physical channel count.
