Product Description:
KM2002 is a bus terminal module. Each of the two connectors on the module supports 8 outputs for a total of 16 digital outputs. This terminal integrates into the process I/O system. It transfers binary control signals with electrical isolation to the process level actuators. Multiple load types can be connected to the output channels, including lamp loads, and resistive and inductive loads. The terminal supports pluggable wiring. Operators can order single-pin or three-pin connectors with or without status LEDs. Each output channel can deliver up to 0.5 Amps output. The output channels are short-circuit proof and the short-circuit current is less than 2 Amps. The output channels are also protected from reverse polarity. The KM2002 provides 500 Volts of electrical isolation. Isolation is necessary for protecting equipment and personnel from high voltages.
With isolation, industrial automation equipment can function safely and reliably while passing signals but providing protection from unsafe current and voltage levels. Current consumed by the K-bus on the KM2002 terminal is 5 milliamps. When the single-pin connector is used, the weight of the terminal is approximately 90 grams. When the three-pin connector is used, the weight of the terminal is approximately 110 grams. Bit width for the terminal in the process image is 16 outputs. The terminal is CE marked and IP20 rated. Its dimensions are 26.5 x 100 x 71 millimeters. For installation operators can use DIN rails measuring 35 millimeters. Both solid and stranded wires can be used for output channel wiring. Cross-section of the wires must be within the 0.08 to 1.5 mm2 range. Beckhoff specifies 8 millimeter wire stripping length for wires connected to the output channels.
