Product Description:
Beckhoff manufactures the KM1002-0000 in its KM Bus Terminals series. This plug-in bus terminal functions as a digital input module that transfers discrete field signals to a PLC over the internal K-Bus. By translating on and off states into process data, it supports compact distributed I/O assemblies in machinery and building automation. Its narrow housing also sits flush with neighboring KM terminals on the same rail, which helps maintain an orderly control cabinet layout.
Two eight-channel groups provide 16 (2 x 8) inputs, and they comply with EN 61131-2 Type 1 for standard industrial digital signal detection. A built-in 3.0 ms input filter helps suppress contact bounce and brief noise pulses before they reach the controller image. The housing measures 26.5 x 100 x 71 mm, which allows dense installation in shallow enclosures without wasting rail space. Field conductors connect through plug-style spring contacts, and an 8 mm stripping length supports proper insertion. The logic electronics are powered from the backplane’s 24 V DC system rail, so the front of the terminal remains dedicated to signal wiring. No connector is included with the terminal, allowing a matching plug to be selected for the intended conductor size.
Within the controller map, the device occupies a 16 bit input word, so each channel can be addressed directly in the process image. Operating power and cyclic data exchange are supplied via K-Bus, which reduces interconnection wiring between adjacent modules. During installation, the housing snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail, and the terminal can be oriented to suit the available panel layout. The enclosure carries an IP20 rating, which provides finger-safe protection for installation inside a protected cabinet. The terminal also omits separate power contacts, keeping signal connections isolated from higher-current distribution points elsewhere in the station.
