The IP6002-B520 is a Communication interface module manufactured by Beckhoff. An M12 screw-type interface can be used to make a connection to it via RS232. The standard configuration is 9600 baud, and the module can manage data transfer rates varying from 1200 to 115,200 baud.

The IP6002-B520 fieldbus box has 500 V of electrical isolation between the RS232 and control voltage to protect the security of the signal. It can be anywhere from 3 V to 18 V for LOW states and from -18 V to -3 V for HIGH states. It can handle a process image with one 8-bit control/status byte and three 8-bit user data bytes. It has a power source with an M8 4-pin male socket and a bus interface with an M12 5-pin plug. It works at a nominal voltage of 24 V DC with a range of -15% to +20%. The current used is 45 mA plus the sensing current, up to 0.5 A at most. There are 128 bytes for getting into a data buffer and 16 bytes for sending. The module works with up to 500 kbaud and wire lengths of up to 15 meters. It also works with station distances of up to 100 meters. EN 61000-6-2 and EN 61000-6-4 say that it is resistant to electromagnetic fields (EMFs), and it has an IP65, IP66, or IP67 rating.
