The IP4112-B518 is an analog output box from Beckhoff in the IP Compact Box Units series. Mounted directly on the machine frame, it converts controller setpoints into analog current signals for devices such as proportional valves or I/P transducers. This arrangement supports distributed automation on a CANopen network while keeping the signal interface close to the field device. Placing the module near the actuator can also reduce long analog cable runs and simplify wiring on the machine.
The module refreshes its outputs in less than 4 ms, which supports fast response across all channels. Each channel supplies a current range of 0 to 20 mA for compatible field devices. The connected load must stay below 500 Ω, and the unit reports an error when that limit is exceeded. Its maximum conversion depth is 16-bit, and the box uses a four-channel configuration for straightforward channel addressing on the CANopen bus. The actuator side is powered from the load-voltage rail, while the output drivers use a separate control-voltage rail.
In the controller, the process image is mapped as 4 × 16 bits for the analog output data. An optional 4 × 8-bit status block can be added for channel-specific alarms and operating states. The fieldbus connection uses an Integrated Tee-Connector, and the power supply enters through an M8 4-pin plug.
