Beckhoff's IP4112-B510 is an analog output module housed in the IP Compact Box Units series. The device brings four current-driven channels directly onto the machine without requiring a control cabinet, which helps simplify distributed I/O layouts. Designed for industrial automation, it generates regulated 0–20 mA signals so actuators such as proportional valves or positioning drives can be modulated from the fieldbus network. By combining IP-rated mechanics with compact packaging, the module extends Beckhoff’s decentralized control approach to areas that experience moisture, dust, or vibration.
Each of the module’s 4 channels delivers a programmable 0 to 20 mA output and can drive loads down to 500 Ω without loss of linearity. Digital-to-analog conversion is completed in < 4 ms, allowing tight control loops even when the CANopen fieldbus cycle time is short. Channel-to-control isolation protects the host controller from transients that may occur on the field side. The outputs leave the housing through an M12 screw-in connector, and their image in the PLC consists of 4 × 16-bit output words for straightforward mapping. An enclosure rating of IP65/IP66/IP67 blocks dust ingress and high-pressure water, supporting mounting directly on conveyors or processing equipment.
The current stage is supplied with up to 30 VDC through a single 4-pin M8 power feed, eliminating extra wiring for auxiliary rails. Internal converters work with a 15-bit default resolution yet can be configured for 16-bit precision when finer setpoint granularity is required. All components are specified for ambient conditions between 0 to 55 °C, and they remain stable during transport or shutdown from −25 to 85 °C. These characteristics support installation in exposed zones while maintaining stable analog output performance.
