Mounted close to the machine, it acquires differential current or voltage signals from field sensors and forwards the converted values to the higher-level controller through its built-in PROFIBUS interface. By combining data acquisition, sensor supply, and a tee-style bus connection in a sealed enclosure, the module supports distributed I/O layouts used in material handling, packaging, and assembly lines. The module provides 4 analog inputs, allowing four process variables to be measured at the same time. Communication takes place over PROFIBUS, so the unit can be inserted directly into an existing fieldbus segment. The inputs are galvanically isolated with 500 V of channel isolation, which helps protect upstream electronics from transient voltages and reduces ground-loop effects.
