Product Description:
The IP2332-B528/PL3 is an IP Compact Box Unit manufactured by Beckhoff for decentralized I/O distribution on machines and process lines. As a member of the IP Compact Box Units series, it functions as a combined digital input and output block that attaches directly to sensors and actuators in demanding industrial areas. The module links to higher-level controllers over EtherCAT and collects field signals while switching loads without additional cabinet hardware. Its compact block-style design also helps place connections close to the machine section being controlled.
Four digital inputs draw a typical 6 mA each and use a 0.2 ms input filter, so fast sensor edges can still be captured while contact bounce is suppressed. All channels operate from a rated load voltage of 24 VDC, supplied through a single 1 × M8, 4-pin feed connector. Downstream devices can be powered because the sensor supply delivers sufficient current, and the module itself only requires 30 mA from the load supply for its internal electronics. The four digital outputs are provided on an M12 screw-in header, and each output can source 2.0 A per channel for resistive or inductive devices. Galvanic fieldbus isolation separates the control electronics from the I/O power domain, and the fully cast housing carries an IP65/IP66/IP67 protection rating against dust and washdown jets.
Within this housing, the unit accepts 4 discrete input signals and provides four independent sourcing outputs, allowing direct mapping between field devices and PLC variables. The channels support ohmic, inductive, and lamp loads, and the total switching capacity is limited to 4 A. Each output is protected, so if a conductor is shorted, a per-channel cutoff of 4.0 A interrupts the fault current to help protect wiring and upstream fuses. Fault conditions are reported to the controller through the process image, which supports predictable response in the control program.
