Internal Product Review
The IP2001-B318-0000 is a Beckhoff compact box output unit with 8 outputs for PROFIBUS networks. Strong technical appeal comes from IP65/IP66/IP67 protection and 0.5 A per channel output capacity, both well suited for distributed machine I/O. Variable installation and clear LED status indication make this unit an efficient choice for dependable field-level output control.

Product Description:
The IP2001-B318-0000 is an eight-channel digital output box produced by Beckhoff within the IP Compact Box Units series. Designed for decentralized installation, the unit switches DC loads directly on machinery and conveyors while forwarding cyclic commands from the controller. Placing the outputs close to actuators streamlines wiring in industrial automation systems. Its sealed housing allows installation on moving tooling or open production lines without an additional cabinet.
The module communicates over PROFIBUS and accepts a control supply of 24 VDC. The module has eight discrete outputs, creating a one-byte process representation that the controller can address directly. Each channel can source 0.5 A per channel, allowing the module to actuate small solenoids and indicator lamps. The housing provides IP65/IP66/IP67 protection, so washdown or dusty areas do not require an extra enclosure. Output cables connect through M8 screw-in sockets, and the power feed uses a 4-pin M8 connector that passes the supply and ground through the trunk. A variable installation position allows the box to be mounted on panels, frames, or robotic arms. The control and fieldbus circuits are galvanically isolated, and reverse-polarity protection prevents damage if the supply is wired incorrectly. Status LEDs near each port provide immediate confirmation of the output states.
The control logic draws 20 mA per channel for each energized output. Each point can tolerate up to 1.5 A of short-circuit current before the electronic shutdown responds. An integrated tee connector in the bus connection permits daisy-chain wiring without external couplers. Sensors connected through the block can receive up to half an ampere per channel, eliminating the need for separate power rails. The molded metal core of the housing assists with thermal conduction, allowing the module to deliver full output current continuously at normal ambient plant temperatures.
