The IP1001-B510 is a compact digital input device produced by Beckhoff and assigned to the IP Compact Box Units series. Its compact form supports installation close to sensors, which shortens field wiring and helps distributed control layouts stay organized.
In operation, the module uses a nominal supply of 24 VDC provided through an M8 power feed connector. Each of its eight input channels draws only 6 mA, allowing dense sensor networks without overloading the supply. An internal digital filter of 3.0 ms suppresses switch bounce so that the controller receives stable states. The electrical characteristics meet the EN61131-2 Type 2 classification, so current thresholds and delay behavior support reliable recognition of logic-high and logic-low levels. Process data are forwarded on the CANopen fieldbus, which permits direct integration with drives, PLCs, and I/O masters. Electrical separation is present between the control voltage and the bus lines, but there is no isolation between individual channels or between the channel and control potential, a scheme that minimizes module size while still protecting the communication interface. Because the module is not programmable, all configuration is handled by the network master.
