Product Description:
The IP1000-B528 is a digital input box unit produced by Beckhoff within the IP Compact Box Units series. It serves as a decentralized interface that accepts sensor signals in the field and forwards them directly to an industrial network, allowing controllers to monitor on/off states without routing every wire back to the cabinet. By combining eight input channels, integrated power distribution, and a sealed housing, the module simplifies installation on machines where space is limited and protection against dust and water is required.
This unit communicates over DeviceNet, and the network line is attached through an integrated tee connector, so additional drop cables are not needed. Each input is referenced to a nominal control potential of 24 VDC, and the internal electronics draw only 6 mA per channel, keeping sensor loading low. A built-in filter of 3.0 ms suppresses contact bounce, ensuring stable state changes before bits are transferred to the controller. The module offers 8 discrete inputs that accept PNP or contact sensors through 8 mm snap-on terminals, while galvanic isolation between the control voltage and the fieldbus helps prevent ground loops. Because the installation position is variable, the box can be mounted horizontally or vertically on a machine frame without affecting operation.
Field wiring is completed with a power feed connector that uses one M8 4-pin plug, and a downstream M8 socket carries the bus and supply farther along the line. Each channel can source up to 0.5 A of sensor supply current from the control voltage US, eliminating the need for external power splitters. The fully potted enclosure meets IP65/IP66/IP67, so it withstands pressurized washdown cleaning in food, packaging, or outdoor equipment. Inside the process image, the device presents one byte, reported as 8-bit input, which allows straightforward mapping in PLC software without additional addressing steps.
