The FM3332-B310-1010 is a thermocouple input module produced by Beckhoff for the FM Thermocouplers series. It conditions temperature signals from thermocouple probes and forwards the digitized data to a field controller, enabling distributed thermal monitoring in automated machinery, ovens, and process lines. By integrating measurement, cold-junction compensation, and data formatting in one housing, it simplifies panel wiring and reduces the demand on central PLC analog cards.

The housing measures 150 mm in width, 52 mm in height, and 129 mm in depth, allowing installation beside other I/O blocks. Its enclosure rating of IP65 seals the electronics against dust and water jets. The input bank provides 32 channels wired in a 2-wire configuration, so each thermocouple pair is connected without sense leads. Temperature changes are digitized at a resolution of 0.1 °C, giving adequate granularity for heating control. Power arrives from a 24 V DC supply, and the PROFIBUS interface transmits data at up to 12 Mbaud. Fieldbus wiring uses a DIN 45322 six-pin plug, while thermocouple leads terminate on a Han 64 D block to keep high-density wiring orderly.

Electrical separation between the sensor domain and the bus electronics is maintained by a channel-to-control isolation barrier rated at 500 V. When fully populated, the device draws a maximum of 130 mA from the supply bus, and that value must be included in cabinet power budgeting. The cyclic data exchanged over the PROFIBUS DP network occupies a process image width of 4 × 16 bit, which streamlines address mapping inside the PLC. Support is limited to thermocouple Type J, aligning the module with commonly available iron-constantan probes. This separation helps reduce the transfer of electrical interference from the bus side to the measurement circuits.
