The FM3332-B310-0010 is a thermocouple interface module produced by Beckhoff within the FM Thermocouplers series. Installed in automated production lines, the unit collects temperature signals from Type J sensors and forwards them to the control system, forming a link between field instrumentation and the main PLC. It is suited for decentralized measurement tasks in machinery, process skids, and test rigs where multiple temperature points must be captured close to the source. This arrangement is useful in applications that monitor heated zones, tooling surfaces, or other temperature-dependent process points during routine machine operation.

Communication is handled through the PROFIBUS DP fieldbus by way of a DIN 45322 6-pin connector, and it supports a data rate of 12 Mbaud. The module maps into controller memory as a process image of 4 x 16-bit words, allowing deterministic sampling during cyclic control. A 24 V DC supply feeds the electronics, which draw up to 130 mA, while galvanic isolation rated at 500 Vrms separates the thermocouple circuits from the supply and bus. Each conversion step has a resolution of 0.1 °C/digit, providing fine temperature discrimination for gradual thermal changes as well as normal operating fluctuations. At the I/O level, the device offers 32 channels, each terminated on a Han 64 D connector with hard gold-plated contacts that help maintain low resistance over repeated insertions. Signal leads can be routed up to 10 m without exceeding the stated accuracy, which helps when sensors are distributed across a large machine section. Despite its channel density, the module occupies only 120 x 52 x 129 mm and weighs 950 g, allowing direct mounting on DIN rails or within tight enclosures.
