Product Description:

Beckhoff developed the EPP7041-3002 EtherCAT P Box, a small motion interface module, for use in industrial automation with direct connection and control of stepper motors. Supporting a variety of stepper motors and encoder systems, the box is designed to handle motor control and digital I/O requirements.

A 2-phase stepper motor, whether unipolar or bipolar, with a nominal voltage range of 8 to 48 V DC, can be supported by the EPP7041-3002 EtherCat P Box. The box has overload and short circuit protection, and the output current is 2 x 3.5 A with a peak value of 2 x 5 A. Additional control functions, like end switches or a motor brake, can be implemented using the box's one digital 24 V DC output and two digital inputs. The built-in 256-fold micro-stepping capacity guarantees accurate and fluid motor operation, and the step frequency may be adjusted up to 8,000 complete steps per second. The connecting technique makes use of M12 sockets that are 5-pin and a-coded. Two M8 sockets that are P-coded and shielded serve as the bus interface. Complying with EN 60529, the housing is constructed from PA6 polyamide and provides protection ratings of IP65/66/67. It also allows for varied installation positions. The EMC criteria EN 61000-6-2/EN 61000-6-4 are satisfied, and the box is vibration and shock resistant per EN 60068-2-6/EN 60068-2-27.

The EPP7041-3002 box has a typical current usage of 100 mA from the US supply and electrical isolation rated at 500 V. Featuring CE marking, the EPP7041 box is engineered for use in high-speed applications that demand encoder input and load indication. The box is ideal for use in decentralized automation systems and has protection against polarity reversal. The box provides dependable control of stepper motors along with built-in diagnostics and feedback from encoders.
