The Beckhoff EPP6001-0002 module is one of the industrial automation devices of the EtherCAT P Box Series, which includes digital I/O serial instruments. It has two 24 V DC output terminals and does not detract from the reliability of communication with the use of EtherCAT protocol, which is essential in any automatic control system.

The module incorporates two M8 P-coded shielded bus interfaces for effective Data communication. It is capable of communication through RS232, RS485 and RS422 protocols with switching interfaces based on the needs of the application. The communication rates vary between 300 and 115 200 baud, with the default set at 9600 baud (8 bits, no parity, 1 stop). This module can also be fully duplex with TxD and RxD channels. However, in this module RS422/RS485 can go up to 1000 meters of cable in length for all the benefits it has for industry surrounding it.

The EPP6001-0002 has qualities that give long life to equipment that has incorporated the module in question. It has passed through tough ground vibration and shock tests. It can withstand 10 frequency sweeps in 3 axes (5 Hz to 60 Hz displacement at 0.35 mm and 60.1Hz to 500Hz acceleration 5 g) and further withstand more than 1000 shocks from any of the 3 axes (35 g, 11 ms). This makes sure that the module can be trusted in adverse conditions. The module also contains a +5 V DC sensor power supply with a total current rating not exceeding 1 A, and a 10µs input pre-filter on the digital inputs, thus making it high speed compatible. This compact and versatile module offers a good solution for both harsh communication and high-speed digital IO applications.
