Product Description:

The Beckhoff EPP5101-0002 is a single-channel EtherCAT incremental encoder module from the EtherCAT P Box Series which finds its applications in positioning and motion control. This single channel module is EtherCAT protocol based and offers quite attractive performance quotient for tough industrial applications.

In an incremental way, the EPP5101-0002 accepts encoders with differential inputs (RS422) and provides A, B, and C channels (also direct signals) offering a very advanced quadrature decoding with 4 times. It has a tremendous bandwidth limit of about 1 MHz allowing up to 4 million increments per second to be processed making it preferable in applications that are high speed. The module also comprises a zero-pulse latch with 16 … 32 bit resolution and supports read, set and enable commands so it is possible to exercise some degree of control over the module.

The module operates at the standard voltage level of 24V DC (– 15% +20%). It is worth noting however that the module is able to power the encoder at 5V reached with 150mA. Two shielded P-coded m8 sockets are provided to facilitate bus connection ensuring effective Ethernet communication. Distributed clocks can manage the level of synchronization required on the system. Housed in a lightweight and sturdy enclosure that weighs roughly 165 grams, the EPP5101-0002 was engineered in order to resist rough industrial use with IP65, IP66 and IP67 ratings. The M12, 8-pin screw type connector, makes sure adequate connections are made to encoders and sensors. This module is best for incremental position detection and is effective in being integrated into automation systems and motion control systems providing accurate and reliable real time operations.
