Product Description:
The EPP4314-1002 is an EtherCAT P Box I/O module produced by Beckhoff and included in the EPP EtherCAT P Box Modules series. It combines distributed power distribution and high-speed EtherCAT communication in a compact IP67 housing that mounts directly on machines. The module is used in industrial automation to collect precision analog signals, accept fast digital states, and transmit them together with supply voltage along a single hybrid cable, reducing cabinet wiring and preserving deterministic real-time behavior.
Each of the four analog input channels is sampled with 16-bit resolution, allowing 65,536 discrete steps across the programmed measurement range. The input circuit withstands 30 V DC between signal and ground, giving headroom against field-wiring transients. A front-end analog filter rolls off at 5 kHz, so high-frequency noise is attenuated before conversion, while accuracy stays within 0.3% of full scale. The digital section recognizes a state change once the line exceeds 9.5 V, and a debounce time of 10 µs suppresses contact chatter. Two P-coded M8 sockets pass EtherCAT P bus lines through, the module draws 2.2 mA from the 24 V sensor inputs, twin A-coded M12 sockets host field devices, and the total segment length can reach 30 m.
The two analog voltage outputs share the incoming 24 V system supply. Each output is generated with 16-bit granularity, and their absolute accuracy is held within <0.1% FS, allowing fine actuator positioning. They can swing into loads down to 500 Ω without signal clipping. To energize downstream transducers, an integrated supply rail can source 0.5 A, eliminating the need for separate field power terminals. Internal electronics draw 100 mA from the Us logic rail, so the remaining current budget is predictable when multiple boxes are daisy-chained. The nominal 24 V DC operating voltage travels together with the EtherCAT signals through the hybrid cable.
