Product Description:
The EPP4174-0002 is an analog output module built by Beckhoff for installation within the EPP EtherCAT P Box Modules series. It converts numerical setpoints from an EtherCAT controller into standardized voltage or current signals that drive actuators, positioners, or process transducers in distributed automation cells. By combining field power and communication on a single EtherCAT P line, the module eliminates separate supply wiring and allows compact, IP-rated I/O clusters to be mounted directly on machines. This layout is useful when control devices are spread across machine sections and clean cable routing is required near the point of use.
The module provides 4 individually isolated output channels that share a 16-bit resolution, allowing precise scaling of process variables. Field power is accepted through the unified EtherCAT P line at 24 V DC with a tolerance of -15% to +20%, and the electronics draw 100 mA from this supply while auxiliary pass-through power is available at 24 V DC on the US pins. Outputs terminate on 4 x M12, 5-pin, A-coded sockets, and network wiring is daisy-chained through a 2 x M8, 4-pin, P-coded, shielded bus interface. Each channel can drive voltage loads greater than 5 kΩ or current loads below 500 Ω. The aluminum body measures 30 x 126 x 26.5 mm and carries a protection rating of IP65/IP66/IP67, enabling cabinet-free mounting in washdown or dust-laden areas.
Installation flexibility is supported by a maximum trunk-to-device cable length of 30 m, allowing remote I/O islands without repeaters. The analog stage holds linearity within <0.1% FS from 0 °C to 55 °C and remains operational between -25 to +60 °C, while storage temperatures can range from -40 °C to 85 °C without damage to the unit. Software-selectable output formats include ±10 V, 0-10 V, 0-20 mA, and 4-20 mA, so the module can source either voltage or current references for proportional valves, drives, or transmitter loops. This range of output types allows the same module to support different signal standards within one distributed control layout.
