Product Description:

The EPP3314-0002 is a thermocouple input module produced by Beckhoff within the EPP EtherCAT P Box Modules series. Its role in automation is to digitize temperature signals close to the machine so that an EtherCAT controller receives accurate process data without long analog runs. With power and communication combined on the EtherCAT P trunk, the unit reduces cabinet wiring and lets sensors be mounted directly on moving or confined tooling where conventional I/O blocks would not fit.

The module samples every channel with a digital resolution of 16 bits, allowing the PLC to register small thermal changes during heat-treatment or packaging cycles. A nominal supply of 24 VDC is accepted through the EtherCAT P feed; this single voltage supports both the internal electronics and the field power branch. Up to 30 m of hybrid cable can separate the box from the previous node while maintaining signal integrity. Network and power are daisy-chained via 2 x M8 socket, 4-pin, P-coded connectors that follow the EtherCAT P pinout, and process sensors plug into 4 x M12 socket inputs that match standard thermocouple patch leads. Four inputs, two-wire sensor wiring, and support for types B, C, E, J, K, L, N, R, S, T, and U give the device broad applicability across industrial temperature ranges.

The housing is molded from PA6 polyamide and presents a depth of 26.5 mm and a height of 126 mm; its 30 mm width aligns with the rest of the EPP portfolio for uniform mounting. Control electronics draw only 100 mA from the US rail, so thermal self-heating remains low even in confined enclosures. The UP branch can deliver up to 3 A downstream, enabling additional EtherCAT P modules or small actuators to be cascaded without a separate power spur.
