Product Description:
The EPP2817-0008 is an IP67-rated EtherCAT P output module manufactured by Beckhoff and included in the EPP EtherCAT P Box Modules series. Designed for decentralized installation, it brings switching capacity directly to moving tooling, conveyors, and packaging lines where cabinet space is limited. The module carries both 24 V DC power and real-time communication over a single hybrid cable and serves as a compact node for deterministic control tasks in industrial automation environments. Its aluminum housing is fully sealed against dust and water and integrates molded connectors for quick installation on the machine.
Communication over the EtherCAT P fieldbus provides synchronized output updates through the module’s integrated distributed clocks function. The unit offers 24 short-circuit-proof channels, each capable of sourcing up to 0.5 A, while the aggregate load is limited to 3 A to protect upstream wiring. Automatic short-circuit reporting, supply undervoltage detection, and onboard diagnostics forward status data to the controller without extra programming. Short-term overload is permitted so that inductive loads can be cleared safely. The fully encapsulated housing and its connectors meet the IP67 protection class, enabling direct mounting on tooling where coolant, dust, or occasional washdown may be present.
Mechanical resilience is supported by shock resistance of 35 g for 11 ms in each axis and vibration endurance of 5–500 Hz at 5 g, so the module remains operational on servo-driven axes or mobile equipment. Outputs are connected through a single 25-pin D-sub connector; the pin assignment routes lines 1–12 and 14–25 to the outputs, while pin 13 provides the common ground. Group-based current paths simplify trunk wiring to match external fusing. Channel activity and fault states are shown locally through signal group LEDs, providing a quick visual indication of load presence and protection trips.
