The EPP2816-0008 is a distributed I/O module manufactured by Beckhoff for the EPP EtherCAT P Box Modules series. Designed for mounting in harsh machine environments, the module combines EtherCAT signal transmission and 24 V DC power on one line, allowing decentralized output channels to be located close to the actuators. Within an automation network, it functions as a slave that switches loads according to commands from the central controller, reducing wiring requirements in conveyors, packaging equipment, and assembly stations.
The module offers 16 digital outputs, each of which can source up to 0.5 A per channel, while the total load across all channels must not exceed 3.0 A. The output voltage follows the upstream supply and is rated for 24 V DC, matching many industrial sensors and coils. Fast response is supported by a turn-on delay of 60 µs and a turn-off delay of 300 µs, allowing the outputs to track high-frequency command patterns. Channel protection includes electronic current limiting that trips at 1.5 A per output to prevent wiring faults from affecting other channels.
