Product Description:
The EPP2349-0022 is a sealed distributed I/O module manufactured by Beckhoff for the EPP EtherCAT P Box Modules series. The unit combines power and EtherCAT communication over one cable, enabling on-machine installation near sensors and actuators. Its compact housing reduces wiring in conveyors, packaging machines, and assembly cells by replacing cabinet-mounted terminals.
The body measures 60 × 126 × 26.5 mm, so it can be fastened directly onto machine frames where space is limited. Two P-coded M8 sockets forward EtherCAT P in and out, while eight M12 sockets distribute the signal lines. The module provides 16 electrically isolated channels that can be parameterized as inputs or outputs. Each input draws only 6 mA at 24 VDC, and the incoming edge is conditioned by a 10 µs filter to remove transients. When set as an output, a channel can source up to 0.5 A per channel, and a shared sensor supply delivers 0.5 A in total. Environmental sealing to IP65, IP66, IP67 protects the electronics against dust and high-pressure water, and the internal bus and load circuits are referenced to an Up rail rated at 24 VDC.
For longer installations the galvanically linked Up and Us supplies remain stable over cable runs up to 30 m. The sum of actuator loads is limited to 3.0 A total, while the power feed for the Up domain must not exceed 3 A. Should a wiring fault occur, electronic limitation caps the fault current at 1.5 A per channel to prevent damage. The eight-way M12 block simplifies sensor hookup, and each plug can carry either sourcing or sinking signals. The Us rail operates at 24 VDC and can deliver up to 3 A for logic circuitry. With these current ceilings the device maintains safe thermal dissipation across the I/O block and keeps field voltage drops within specification.
