EPP2328-0001 is a Beckhoff EPP series EtherCAT P box. It is designed for industrial applications that require interfacing with sensors and actuators. A major benefit of EtherCAT P technology, which is an extension of EtherCAT technology, is that a single cable can be used to carry data and power. Each EtherCAT box acts as a slave that is controlled by an EtherCAT master. Multiple boxes can be cascaded in series and installed at different locations for interfacing with actuators and sensors. The EPP2328-0001 box provides four digital inputs and four digital outputs. LEDs indicate the state of each signal. The signals are connected through M8 connectors on the box. Each of the input channels has a 3 millisecond filter. Voltage rating of the unit is 24 Volts DC.

For the four digital inputs, the permitted maximum cable length is 30 meters. Voltage range for 0 signal level is -3 to +5 Volts and the voltage range for 1 signal level is +11 to +30 Volts. The input current is typically 6 milliamps at 24 Volts. For the four digital outputs, the permitted maximum cable length is 30 meters. Ohmic, lamp load and inductive loads are allowed. The short circuit current rating is 15 Amps. The on state switching time is 200 microseconds and the off state switching time is also 200 microseconds. Weight of the EPP2328-0001 unit is 165 grams.
