The EPP2008-0002 is a digital output EtherCAT P box module from Beckhoff in the EPP EtherCAT P Box Modules series. Designed for field installation, the block combines EtherCAT communication and 24 V power on a single hybrid line so that valves, solenoids, and signal lamps can be driven directly at the machine. By placing eight outputs near the process, it shortens cable runs, reduces panel space, and maintains deterministic update cycles required by modern automation systems. This layout also keeps actuators close to the I/O point, which helps simplify machine wiring in distributed installations.
Eight push-pull channels share a nominal bus voltage of 24 VDC. Each channel can deliver up to 0.5 A, and the auxiliary sensor supply is limited to the same current. A short-circuit threshold of 1.5 A disconnects the line before wiring damage occurs. The permissible distance between this module and the upstream coupler reaches 30 m when hybrid cabling is used. Network and supply connections are provided through 2 x M8 socket, 4-pin, P-coded, shielded interfaces that carry both data and power. The module has 8 individually switchable outputs, so it can accept ohmic, inductive, and lamp loads without separate relay blocks in many applications. When all outputs are active at the same time, the device can supply up to 3.0 A. The compact housing helps the module fit into tight mounting areas on machine frames, guards, and conveyor sections where cabinet-mounted I/O would be less practical.
