Product Description:
This product is an EtherCAT communication P Box released by Beckhoff Automation to improve communication between industrial processors and the controller present in the servo system. The EPP1018-0002 is a combination of Beckhoff Automation 30 years of experience and new technology. It supplements the EtherCAT technology that was also developed by Beckhoff in 2003. There are up to 8 digital inputs present on this EtherCAT box; each of these inputs can be connected to different components; they are also equipped with a 10-microsecond electrical input filter. The input filter makes this product particularly suitable for electronic and mechanism inputs, with the benefit of additional signal debouncing. The EPP1018-0002 does not feature any special feature; however, it can be used under almost any type of industrial environment. Its polyamide housing can withstand industrial vibrations and shocks; it also provides protection against water and solid particles that can disrupt its operation.
The bus interface on this product is an M8 socket; it is also well-shielded and P-codded. The M8 socket is preferred because it is watertight and can function optimally in harsh environments. The “0” signal voltage is between -3 to about +5 volts, while the “1” signal voltage can be between 11 to 30 volts. The housing of this product is painted black; this color provides good contrast for operators to identify the diagnostic light displayed on the Light Emitting Diodes that communicate the signal state in the product.
The EPP1018-0002 EtherCAT P box is delivered as a standard device; it can simply be installed and switched on for operation. There is no need to modify or adjust the product to meet specific industrial applications. It has a total weight of 165 grams.
