Product Description:
Beckhoff manufactures the CP9842_1 as part of the C9 PC Accessories series. The product is a PCB interface card that bridges field wiring, internal I/O, and an operator touch panel to the host industrial PC. Within an automation enclosure, it behaves as a passive backplane segment, routing power and differential data lines through fixed copper traces instead of loose harnesses. By keeping all signal transitions on a single board, the card shortens assembly time and lowers the chance of wiring errors during machine build or service.
This open board assembly uses a MAX3815 equalizer that supports high-speed differential signaling over moderate cable lengths. Field conductors land on two circular industrial connectors that provide vibration-resistant bayonet locking. Despite its full-featured layout, the card weighs only 0.01 lb, so it adds negligible mass to compact control panels. Mechanical fixation is provided by 2 mounting holes positioned on opposite corners, and the board is secured through a screw-mounted PCB arrangement that tolerates repeated removal for inspection. A board-to-board header is present along the rear edge to pass additional low-level signals to stackable option cards without running external cables.
The populated component side carries three interface groups, and their separation is enforced by 3 primary connectors so power, logic, and touchscreen lines remain isolated. The card uses gold-plated contacts to reduce oxidation and maintain low contact resistance over thousands of mating cycles. Overcurrent events are limited by a yellow PTC / resettable fuse that trips thermally and then resets once the fault is cleared. A dedicated white multi-pin socket ties directly to the front-panel touch interface, and the black solder-mask finish is described as black PCB and improves optical contrast for automated inspection while minimizing stray light inside illuminated panels.
