The C9900-Z216 fan tray is produced by Beckhoff as part of the C9 PC Accessories series. It serves as a replaceable cooling module for industrial automation PCs, helping processor and power components remain within their normal operating temperature range during continuous use in compact control cabinets and machine-mounted systems. The assembly installs directly beneath compatible control units, so it can be exchanged while the machine remains wired in place. Because the tray is separate from the main chassis, removing it does not disturb internal I/O cards or storage media, and consistent airflow supports stable operation over long duty cycles.
Its installation uses a tool-less latch, so the tray can be released without screwdrivers or hex keys. The cartridge is withdrawn from the underside of the IPC, which helps keep warm exhaust air from recirculating into modules above it, and its electrical and mechanical interfaces match C6920/C6930 control units for proper fit and plug alignment. Inside the housing are 2 centrifugal blowers that provide the airflow needed by the cooling assembly. Both fans share the system's backplane supply and run on a regulated 12 V DC rail, which allows the controller to monitor fan speed and react if rotation drops.
Each blower draws only 0.05 A, so the pair adds little load to the IPC power budget and leaves more supply capacity available for the controller and connected peripherals. Retention is aided by a knurled screw that can be turned by hand, locking the tray after service without the risk of excessive tightening from hand tools. The low current draw also helps keep added heat and operating noise low during long production runs. This layout keeps the airflow module easy to handle when replacement is needed and avoids unnecessary disruption to surrounding hardware.
