The C9900-U320-0010 is an uninterruptible power supply battery module from Beckhoff in the C9 PC Accessories series. It mounts in the control cabinet and connects directly to selected Beckhoff industrial PCs, supplying backup energy when the main 24 VDC rail drops out. By keeping the processor active long enough for software to save variables and shut down in a controlled way, the unit helps protect motion sequences, recipe data, and fieldbus communication in automated equipment. This buffer period is intended for orderly operating-system actions rather than continued machine operation, which helps prevent corrupted files and incomplete process records after a power loss.
The module draws power from the cabinet's 24 VDC rail through a feeder that accepts 2 x 1.5 mm² cable, which helps limit voltage drop over the permitted run. An internal battery rated at 2.5 Ah uses NiCad chemistry, and its nominal output of 18 V matches the DC/DC converter built into the UPS. The allowable ambient temperature range is 0 to 55 °C, so the unit can be installed near drives and I/O on the same DIN rail. Because the module is intended for cabinet use, its wiring path stays short and direct between the supply rail, the UPS electronics, and the connected PC. PLC software reads service information through UPS Control and Status offsets 0x03EC and 0x03ED, while ribbon cables ST703 and ST501 connect the module to C1230S and CP9030 boards. Those status words let the control application monitor battery condition and react before the available backup time is exhausted.
Charging and diagnostic routines are supervised by the C2000BAT controller. When the listed conductor size is used, the DC link between the battery block and system can be routed up to 4 m; using a larger conductor extends the allowable length to 8 m, which supports larger enclosures. The assembly remains functional in ambient humidity up to 95%, non-condensing. A dedicated UPS harness connects the energy store to the switching stage without additional fusing. This arrangement supports controlled shutdown behavior during supply interruptions without requiring a separate external energy source.
