It acts as the energy buffer for Beckhoff Industrial PCs, maintaining the 24 V DC supply long enough for an orderly shutdown or short-term bridging when utility power is interrupted. By integrating with the uninterruptible power supply interface, the module helps preserve data integrity and process continuity in automation cells, cabinet controllers, and panel PCs that cannot tolerate an unexpected power loss. This reserve power allows the connected IPC to close active tasks, save pending data, and stop controlled processes in a predictable way instead of shutting down abruptly.
The maintenance-free lead battery inside stores 2.5 Ah of charge, which affects how long connected control hardware can remain powered. A battery connection voltage of 24 VDC links directly to the IPC DC bus, so no additional converters are needed. During charging, the controller limits current to 1/3 full capacity, which helps extend battery life by avoiding excessive heat. Full recharge from a completely depleted state takes no more than 4 h. Power is routed through a battery feed cable made of 2 × 1.5 mm² conductors, and with this cross-section the permissible feeder length is 4 m. Using the correct cable size helps the battery deliver stable support voltage during short backup intervals.
The module tolerates ambient air up to 55 °C under continuous load, and it keeps its electrolyte stable in environments reaching a relative humidity of 95% when the air is non-condensing. Internal electronics are supplied through a power-pack rail of 18 V, separated from the main battery line to simplify diagnostics and monitoring. Cabinet integration is streamlined because the housing clips to a Top-Hat Rail, and a UPS link cable with 4 × 1.5 mm² cores transmits status signals between the battery module and the Beckhoff IPC or a dedicated UPS controller. Non-condensing operation helps reduce the risk of moisture-related faults inside enclosed control cabinets.
