Product Description:
The C9900-U310 is a battery-based accessory developed by Beckhoff for the C9 PC Accessories series. Intended for industrial automation panels and embedded controllers, the module stores direct-current energy so connected electronics can ride through brief mains interruptions and shut down in a controlled manner. Its compact form factor and straightforward connection scheme allow integration into control cabinets without major changes to existing IPC layouts. In small control systems, that reserve power can keep the controller active long enough to complete an orderly shutdown rather than stopping abruptly during a short supply failure.
During operation, the unit delivers a nominal battery voltage of 18 V, providing a stable DC source for compact control hardware. The internal nickel-cadmium stack supplies 1.8 Ah of charge, which sets the available bridge time under full load. Because the chemistry is NiCad, the pack is suited to repeated discharge and recharge cycles in industrial use. An integrated 8 A battery fuse protects downstream wiring by disconnecting the cells under excessive fault current. Mechanical installation uses a Top-Hat Rail mount, allowing the assembly to clip onto standard DIN rails and align neatly with adjacent cabinet components. This arrangement also helps keep wiring routes orderly in narrow enclosures where space around the power section is limited.
The recommended charging current is limited to 1/3 capacity, which helps control cell temperature and supports even charging across the pack. At that rate, the module reaches full charge in no more than 4 h, giving a predictable recovery window after discharge. To minimize voltage drop, the permitted feeder length is 8 m at 2.5 mm² between this accessory and the supported UPS electronics. The unit is suitable for environments with relative humidity up to 95% without condensation, provided the enclosure prevents moisture from collecting on live parts. This cable-length allowance is useful when the battery must be mounted away from the UPS module to make better use of available cabinet space.
