Product Description:
The C9900-A173 is a compact DVI/USB extension interface produced by Beckhoff within its C9 PC Accessories series. As an add-on module for industrial PCs, the unit converts local DVI and USB signals so they can travel over twisted-pair cabling to a remote operator panel. By relocating video and input peripherals away from the control cabinet, the module helps reduce cabinet temperature and noise. This arrangement keeps the host PC in a protected enclosure while placing the user interface closer to the machine. The design contains no active computing elements; it strictly conditions and forwards existing signals.
Signal handling is centered on a single video output wired as a DVI-D 3 x 8-pole connector. This channel is paired with a DVI extension port that uses RJ-45 media, allowing transmission through standard Cat-7 cable up to 31 m without repeaters. USB support follows the USB 1.1 standard, with a rated throughput of 12 Mbps. A downstream Type-A receptacle on the front panel supplies the local device, while an RJ-45 socket forwards the same bus to the field. Mechanical integration into control cabinets is simple because the housing clips onto a Top Hat Rail, keeping the device aligned with adjacent I/O terminals. This layout supports orderly cable routing between the computer, the extension module, and the remote panel.
The electronics are powered from a 24 V DC control circuit delivered through a WAGO 734-103/037-000 push-in connector, and typical draw is only 2.0 W, so heat generation is minimal. The housing carries an IP20 rating, indicating basic finger protection and suitability for mounting inside enclosed panels. It is 100 mm high, 70 mm deep at the electronics section, and 150 mm in overall depth when the connectors are included; the frontal width measures 45 mm, permitting dense installation beside terminal blocks. Its compact form helps the module fit neatly into control cabinets where DIN-rail space is limited and cable access must remain unobstructed.
