Product Description:
The C9900-A172 is a remote interface module developed by Beckhoff for operator panels in the C9 PC Accessories series. It works as a display link extender, transferring video and USB signals from an industrial PC to an operator station over its specified reach. In factory automation, this arrangement lets the touch panel stay on the machine front while the computer is relocated to a protected enclosure, limiting heat and vibration exposure for the electronics.
The module operates from a control supply of 24 V DC and draws only 0.4 W, so it adds negligible load to the cabinet power rail. Video is carried through a DVI-D (3 × 8 digital) port, maintaining pixel-accurate transmission from the host graphics controller. For data backhaul, it includes 2 × RJ45 (10/100 Mbit) extension ports that route USB and touchscreen information to a matching receiver. The housing meets the IP20 protection class, guarding against finger contact and settled dust when installed inside a cabinet. Physical dimensions are 45 mm in width, 100 mm in height, and an overall depth of 150 mm; the electronics section itself occupies 70 mm of that depth, leaving space for rear cabling.
Installation is on a top-hat rail, allowing the device to snap onto the standard 35 mm DIN profile used in Beckhoff control systems. A paired cable set supports a panel distance of up to 31 m without signal degradation, covering most machine faces and nearby operator stations. Mechanical endurance is specified at 5 G, 30 ms, so the electronics tolerate cabinet shock during start-ups or tool changes. The USB path follows the USB 1.1 standard and is presented on a Type-B connector for touchscreens or keypads operating at full-speed mode. Operation is permissible up to 95 % non-condensing humidity, and the WAGO 734 push-in power plug secures the low-mass housing against vibration.
