Product Description:
The AMI8123-3000-1J10 is a compact integrated servo drive from Beckhoff’s AMI Integrated Drive Motors series. It combines a permanent-magnet motor, an absolute encoder, and a power stage in one housing, enabling decentralized machine modules. The unit bolts to small transfer mechanisms or indexing tables and receives motion commands through a single hybrid cable. In packaging, material-handling, and assembly cells, it executes precise position or speed profiles without requiring a cabinet-mounted inverter.
Motion control data reach the actuator through the EtherCAT interface, allowing the drive to synchronize with submillisecond network cycles. Rotor position is reported by a 17-bit single-turn absolute encoder, providing 131,072 steps per revolution for repeatable micropositioning without homing after a power cycle. Convection cooling dissipates losses through the aluminum housing, which has an IP54 ingress protection rating for the enclosure and shaft against dust and splashed fluids. The F2 flange with a 58 mm dimension matches compact gearheads while keeping the assembly compact. With a maximum speed of 12,000 rpm, the motor can operate in high-speed feeders or spindles. The motor is supplied without a holding brake, which minimizes its overall length.
The unit operates continuously within an ambient temperature range of 0 °C to +40 °C and at a relative humidity of 5% to 95% without condensation. It can be stored at temperatures from -25 °C to +70 °C without damage to its electronics or magnets. The motor uses a magnetic configuration with 6 poles, and the J winding code pairs this arrangement with Beckhoff’s servo algorithms under the MDP profile. A rotor inertia of 0.376 kgcm² supports fast acceleration while reducing the risk of overshooting with light loads. The assembly weighs 2.05 kg, reducing the load added to moving axes. Motor length index 3 keeps the drive short, while a shaft with a groove and parallel key conforming to DIN 6885 transmits torque directly to connected couplings. Safety circuitry must be provided externally because the device does not include TwinSAFE.
