Product Description:
The AL2015-0001-0000 coil unit is produced by Beckhoff for the AL Linear Motors series and functions as the moving primary component in the linear servo motor range. Installed on a machine axis, it converts drive current into direct thrust to position loads without mechanical transmissions. A small air gap allows the module to interact with the magnetic secondary track while retaining the high dynamics required in industrial automation processes such as packaging, pick-and-place, and semiconductor handling.
The electromagnetic design supports a continuous current of 10.75 A, enabling a steady thrust of 500 N when the unit is cooled by ambient air. During operation, power losses reach 375 W and are conducted through a thermal path with a resistance of 0.19 °C/W. Travel velocity can be controlled up to 7 m/s, while the back electromotive force constant is 26.87 V per meter per second. The required air gap between the coil and magnet rail is 0.5 mm. The magnetic circuit has a motor constant of 950 N²/W, indicating the available force relative to power dissipation. The coil body weighs 3.2 kg, measures 80 mm in width, and contains 15 speed windings. It is supplied without connectors, allowing machine builders to select cabling that suits the installation.
Peak current reaches 32.7 A, producing a peak force of 1125 N for rapid acceleration against a magnetic attraction force of 2075 N. Mechanical interaction with the secondary track follows a pole pitch of 24 mm. The thermal mass provides a time constant of 77 seconds before the temperature stabilizes. Because the unit is supplied without water cooling, sufficient convective airflow is required to remove generated heat. Power and signal conductors can be terminated directly inside the machine housing because the coil unit does not include factory-installed connectors.
