Product Description:
The AL2015-0000-0001 coil unit is produced by Beckhoff for the AL Linear Motors series. As a linear servo motor element, it converts drive current directly into thrust along a flat track, eliminating mechanical transmissions and enabling precise, rapid positioning in automated assembly, packaging, and material-handling equipment. Integrating this mover with Beckhoff drives and magnetic secondary tracks provides high acceleration for axes installed on compact gantries or pick-and-place modules.
A designed air gap of 0.5 mm separates the coil face from the permanent-magnet rail and must be maintained to avoid a collision while ensuring efficient magnetic coupling. Under forced-air cooling, the unit produces a continuous thrust of 500 N with a continuous phase current of 4.46 A; these ratings establish the steady process load that the axis can move without thermal overload. During constant operation, copper and iron losses generate 375 W of heat that must be removed by the required airflow. For rapid moves or load shocks, the drive may command up to 19.6 A, allowing the mover to develop a peak force of 1125 N for short periods. Positioning cycles must be timed so that the RMS current stays within the continuous limit and prevents excessive heating.
A pole pitch of 24 mm matches Beckhoff secondary tracks for smooth, cogging-free motion, while a phase inductance of 64 mH and a line resistance of 8.6 Ω affect the current-loop bandwidth supplied by the controller. Fifteen coils are arranged in a normal winding pattern within an 80 mm-wide housing and connect through M23 and D-Sub plugs for power and feedback. Magnetic attraction to the rail reaches 2075 N, so the carriage and linear guide must withstand that preload. Thermal management is supported by a thermal resistance of 0.19 °C/W and a thermal time constant of 77 s. The model does not use water cooling. Each coil segment weighs 3.2 kg, allowing it to be positioned during carriage assembly without adding excessive mass to the moving axis.
