The AL2012-0001-0000 is a moving-coil module manufactured by Beckhoff for the AL Linear Motors series. As part of the linear servo motor range, this unit generates thrust directly along a magnet track, removing the need for rotary conversion mechanisms in pick-and-place systems, packaging machinery, and gantry axes. When coupled with a matching magnet rail and drive amplifier, it provides precise position control and high acceleration for equipment that requires fast, repeatable linear motion.
With a nominal air gap of 0.5 mm, the coil rides close to the permanent-magnet track to maximize flux linkage while avoiding physical contact. Under continuous excitation, the winding delivers 400 N of thrust at 8.60 A. The 12-coil stack can briefly accept 26.2 A to reach a peak force of 900 N for rapid acceleration. The pole pitch of 24 mm matches Beckhoff magnet plates and sets the electrical cycle length used by the drive controller. At light load, the carriage can move at up to 7 m/s, provided that the guideway system supports this velocity. A magnetic attraction force of 1,700 N acts toward the track, so the mounting hardware must withstand that preload.
