The AL2003-0001-0001 coil unit is manufactured by Beckhoff for the AL Linear Motors series. As a component in the linear servo motor product range, it converts drive current directly into linear thrust along a magnet track, eliminating the need for mechanical transmissions. Within an automation cell, the coil mates with a ferromagnetic secondary rail and is commanded by a Beckhoff drive controller, providing a modular axis for pick-and-place stations where space limitations favor contact-free actuation.
Under continuous duty, the coil draws 2.28 A and produces a sustained thrust of 75 N while releasing 90 W of heat that must be removed through the mounting structure. The three-phase speed winding has a self-inductance of 60 mH and a resistance of 7.8 Ω, so the associated inverter must supply adequate voltage during rapid current changes. A motor constant of 185 N²/W indicates the electrical-to-mechanical conversion efficiency, and the coil’s 0.9 kg mass limits moving inertia. Natural convection is the only cooling method because the unit is supplied without water cooling. Power and feedback signals are routed through M23 and D-Sub connectors. The winding set contains three coils arranged in a speed-optimized pattern that aligns with matched Beckhoff magnet segments.
