Product Description:
The X67SI8103 is an I/O expansion module from B & R Automation that belongs to the X67 Analog Input Output Modules series. It extends the distributed safety bus by combining safe inputs with standard signal channels, allowing a controller to monitor emergency devices and drive small actuators on the same compact node. Within a machine enclosure, the unit mounts close to sensors or valves so that wiring stays short and diagnostic data can return to the PLC without additional junction terminals. This arrangement lets one compact station handle safety-related monitoring and standard switching tasks in the same location.
The housing carries two field ports equipped with M12 threaded connectors. Each port uses an 8-pin device interface, so encoded cables can carry supply, input, and output lines through one plug. A back-fed feeder delivers a regulated 24 VDC to the internal electronics, and the upstream segment may provide up to 2 A of device supply current for connected loads. The built-in input filter is configurable, allowing debounce time to be increased when inductive sensors chatter and helping stabilize switching signals. One non-safe input channel and one non-safe output channel share this supply, and each standard path is isolated from the safety domain so ordinary diagnostics do not compromise the SIL matrix.
The module also includes one high-side non-safe transistor that supports 0.6 A load current, plus two pulse channels for steppers or LED stacks. These channels provide 2 pulse outputs referenced to the pulse rail, which supports synchronized flashing or low-speed counting tasks without an external driver stage. For safety-related signaling, two inputs are wired according to Type A rules, giving the controller 2 safe inputs that meet stop-category requirements. A single non-safe input remains available for standard proximity switches, while the non-safe output can switch pilot relays used for local indication or light-duty control.
