The X67MM2436 is a remote I/O and dual-motor bridge unit manufactured by B & R Automation for the X67 Analog Input Output Modules series. Mounted directly on machinery, it collects sensor signals and drives low-voltage actuators through pulse-width-modulated outputs. The module shortens field wiring by placing input processing and actuator control closer to the process. Its machine-mounted design also reduces the length of cable runs between sensors, motors, and the central control system.
The module’s six digital inputs are organized into two groups of three with shared reference lines, allowing three sensors to be connected through each terminal group. Each channel uses a sink input scheme and accepts a nominal level of 24 VDC, permitting direct connections to compatible proximity switches, photoelectric devices, and other industrial sensors without level shifters. For position capture, the module supports incremental encoder signals at the standard 24 V level, removing the need for a separate counter module. Two embedded bridges handle motor loads, and the two independent outputs switch the supply at high frequency. This arrangement supports precise modulation of brushed DC motors or proportional solenoids while helping to keep audible switching noise low.
Each bridge sustains a continuous load of 3 A and can accommodate peaks up to 5 A during acceleration or valve actuation. Integrated current monitoring helps protect the power stages from excessive thermal stress during changing load conditions. Power is switched through a PWM topology that limits heat dissipation and enables smooth duty-cycle control, allowing precise adjustment of motor speed or hydraulic flow. The electronics tolerate input variations of ±25% around the applicable nominal rail and operate across a supply range from 24 VDC to 38.5 VDC. This operating range accommodates normal supply fluctuations and temporary voltage increases caused by regenerative back EMF. The unit can therefore share an appropriately protected power source with other compatible low-voltage loads without requiring an additional dedicated regulator.
