Product Description:
B&R Automation's X67IF1121-1 X67 is a remote I/O unit in the X67 Analog Input Output Modules series. Designed for machine-mounted installation, the module aggregates digital sensors and actuators and forwards their states to a higher-level controller over the deterministic X2X real-time bus. By placing sealed electronics directly on the machine, the device reduces cabinet wiring and simplifies the distribution of 24 V field signals in industrial automation cells. This arrangement supports decentralized layouts where I/O points need to sit close to moving assemblies and sensor clusters. The part also integrates serial diagnostic ports so legacy equipment can be connected alongside newer networked devices.
The module provides two digital output points and two digital input channels. Each channel can switch or sense up to 0.5 A at 24 VDC, making it suitable for small valves, relays, and proximity switches. The inputs use a sink circuit arrangement, so field devices must source current back into the module. Contact bounce and electrical noise can be reduced through a configurable input filter whose delay is adjusted in software. A cast housing and an IP67 enclosure rating support direct washdown exposure. All field and bus connections are routed through a rugged M12, B-coded plug, eliminating the need for cabinet terminals.
Beyond discrete I/O, the unit includes one RS232 interface and a second RS422/485 port for parameterization or connection to external sensors. Communication with the machine controller takes place over the X2X link, which uses a daisy-chain topology with one input and one output port and supports cable runs up to 100 m without repeaters. The overvoltage category is II, which helps the electronics tolerate typical factory power transients. Its sealed aluminum body allows reliable signaling while logic power and field power are shared across a single bus line. This helps keep wiring short in compact stations and on distributed machine sections.
