Product Description:
The X67IF1121 is a remote I/O module manufactured by B & R Automation within the X67 Analog Input Output Modules series. Mounted directly on machinery, it extends the PLC backplane to field devices by combining digital sensing and actuation inside a rugged, decentralized housing. Its role is to gather on-machine signals and drive localized loads, which helps reduce cabinet wiring and supports modular machine layouts in industrial automation. This arrangement is useful on equipment such as conveyors, packaging stations, and transfer systems where control points are distributed across the machine frame.
On its front face, the module provides 2 digital input channels that operate in a sink configuration. Each input accepts a 24 VDC digital level, and a configurable input filter allows the response time to be matched to mechanical switches or fast optical detectors. In addition, it offers 2 mixed I/O channels that can source or sink discrete loads. Every point can energize coils or lamps up to 0.5 A switching current without auxiliary relays. A shared internal bus distributes logic power and supports predictable update behavior even when multiple channels change state at the same time.
For upstream connectivity, the module carries a 24 VDC power rail through its M12 feed-through connectors. Service access is provided by one RS-232 port, and multi-drop expansion is handled by one RS-422/485 port. Separating local service communication from real-time I/O traffic helps diagnostics and parameter access occur without interrupting normal control exchange. The serial interfaces can also be used for devices such as barcode scanners or local setup stations at the machine. This layout supports short cable runs on conveyors, fillers, and packaging heads, which can help reduce noise pickup and keep field wiring organized.
