Product Description:
B & R Automation's X67DM9321 is a field I/O block in the X67 Analog Input Output Modules series. Designed for direct machine mounting, it transfers discrete sensor states and actuator commands over the X2X real-time network, eliminating the need for a cabinet-installed terminal strip. By combining sealed connectors with onboard power distribution, the module supports decentralized control architectures in conveyors, packaging machines, and robotic cells where compact nodes shorten wiring runs and keep field connections close to the machine, even in humid production areas. This layout places I/O near the process devices, which reduces long cable routes between sensors, actuators, and the central control hardware.
It offers 8 configurable digital channels that can be set as sinks or sources according to application needs. When acting as high-speed counters, dedicated lines capture edge transitions up to 50 kHz, with the resulting values stored in an internal register for precise flow or position tracking. The cast housing carries a protection rating of IP67, blocking dust ingress and water jets encountered in washdown zones. All circuits are energized from a single 24 VDC supply, and every sourcing output can deliver a nominal 0.5 A without derating. The signal wiring uses an 8 × M8 three-pin connector set, and the M12 B-coded port links the node to the X2X bus.
The remaining ratings cover electrical isolation and internal data handling. The module provides 2 dedicated event counters whose contents are stored in a 16-bit field, independent of normal I/O scanning. Because the counters operate separately from the normal scan, rapid pulse activity can be tracked without relying only on cyclic controller updates. Each input presents a typical resistance of 5 kΩ and follows a sink topology, whereas the outputs employ a source driver. Galvanic separation between logic and field wiring withstands 500 Veff, helping protect the controller from transients. Internal electronics dissipate 2.5 W, adding a continuous load that must be considered in the field power supply.
