Product Description:
The X67DI1371 is a discrete input module manufactured by B&R Automation as part of the X67 Analog Input Output Modules series. Designed for installation directly on tooling or conveyor frames, it converts on-site sensor signals into bus data that the controller can evaluate in real time. By locating the electronics at the machine and using the vendor’s X2x network, the unit reduces control-cabinet I/O wiring and supports decentralized architectures common in material-handling, packaging, and light assembly lines. This arrangement also keeps short sensor runs close to the point of use and returns status data over the network.
This model offers 8 digital channels, giving each module enough points to collect limit-switch or photoeye states from a localized machine section. The channels accept a nominal field supply of 24 VDC, which matches the common sensor voltage used in many industrial systems. A built-in input filter of 1 ms helps debounce mechanical contacts so spurious chatter does not propagate to the PLC. Input polarity is sink type, so connected sensors must source current into the module. When distributed along the production line, station spacing can extend to 100 m between adjacent X2x nodes without repeaters. Internal electronics consume only 1.00 W, which helps limit heat buildup inside sealed machine enclosures.
The network interface uses a rugged, coded M12, B-keyed connector. Its daisy-chain layout includes a 1 input, 1 output port set, so additional modules can be linked without junction boxes. Mechanical fastening relies on M4 screws tightened to 0.6 Nm, which supports secure mounting without damaging the threads. The cast base plate is only 1.5 mm thick, keeping overall weight low while still providing a solid thermal path for the populated circuitry. The X2x link power requirement is -0.75 W, and this value reflects the power drawn from the network connection.
