Product Description:
The X67BC8780.L12 remote I/O module is produced by B&R Automation for the X67 Analog Input Output Modules series. It serves as a decentralized interface that connects analog sensors and actuators to a machine network, allowing a controller to sample process variables or energize loads without routing every connection through a control cabinet. The module can be installed directly on equipment to shorten field wiring and distribute input and output functions throughout industrial automation systems.
The module has one CAN backbone interface that supports deterministic network traffic while maintaining a straightforward topology. Branch wiring is supported by 8 CAN star connections, and an active wiring aid monitors termination quality in real time. Network communication uses POWERLINK through an industry-standard M12 connector. The X2x output port uses B-keyed coding to prevent connection with incompatible connector types. A line can accommodate up to 253 X67 stations, allowing devices across large conveyor, packaging, or material-handling areas to share the deterministic bus. The high-density housing provides numerous connections within a compact footprint, and its 53 mm width aligns with adjacent X67 modules.
The permissible distance between successive stations is 100 m, enabling the module to be distributed along an extended production line without repeaters. The enclosure has an IP67 rating, protecting the internal electronics from dust and temporary water exposure when all connections are properly secured. The cast housing measures 42 mm deep and 155 mm tall, while its compact width conserves mounting space. Installation uses an M4 screw that passes through an integrated metal insert, providing a secure attachment that resists vibration during machine operation. Direct equipment mounting also reduces long cable runs between field devices and the main controller, while the coded connection arrangement helps prevent wiring errors during installation or maintenance.
