The X67BC8321-1 is an input/output slice manufactured by B & R Automation and assigned to the X67 Analog Input Output Modules series. Serving as a decentralized node, the unit conditions analog and digital signals at the machine level and forwards them across the vendor’s X2X real-time bus to a central PLC. By combining sensor sampling and actuator driving in a single IP-rated housing, it streamlines control architecture in conveying, metal-forming, and packaging lines. Because it mounts directly on moving or exposed equipment, the module eliminates protective cabinets and long cable runs while still supplying deterministic I/O updates.
The module operates from a nominal bus supply of 24 VDC; internal circuitry is protected by a galvanic isolation barrier rated at 860 Veff between the field side and logic domain. Eight digital channels can be configured as inputs or outputs, while two independent event counters with a 16-bit gate width can register edges up to 50 kHz. When sourcing loads, each channel is limited to a nominal 0.5 A, and the aggregate draw must stay under the 12 W power budget. High-speed fieldbus interaction is enabled by a minimum cycle time of 200 µs, supporting coordinated motion or safety interlocking. A braking clamp arrests inductive kickback at 50 VDC, and leakage current in the off state is 5 µA.
The housing has an IP67 rating, so the electronics can tolerate coolant spray, dust, and brief immersion without a cabinet. The eight outputs can jointly supply up to 4 A, and the X2X link auxiliary conductor can furnish 3 W to downstream modules or sensors. Deterministic communication is sustained with a minimum X2X link cycle of 100 µs and a network transfer rate of 100 Mbit/s, ensuring that distributed drives and sensors receive updated setpoints within tight control windows.
